I own 30-06, i own a 300 win mag , now never pull anything out but the 300 win mag , it is a Browning A bolt with the belly clip , has the sweet spot muzzle break ,that takes care of half of the recoil and have the Remington butt pad . The trouble Im having wracking my brain over is caliber. Nor do my groups appear to be outliers for the Momentum. In our testing, the Weatherby Vanguard shot the most accurately, although the difference between it, the Bergara and the Tikka was so small that I doubt we could call it statistically significant. Just remember one thing the price of the good older stuff keeps going up and up so when you waste your money on junk it never goes up in value as fast as the good stuff so when you do get around to buying something of quality you lost twice not once. They do have a more expensive option for a titanium action that is even lighter, but I feel the titanium actions just arent as smooth in the hand. I also like the Fierce Reaper and the Sako S20 for heavy-recoiling cartridges. They are built in the same factory where they produce Mauser and Blaser rifles (all owned by the same company), so I guess quality shouldnt be an issue but unlike Mausers and Blasers, these rifles are far less expensive. I wanted to get into deer/large game hunting while trying to stick with one gun for all animals (deer to elk) and I live in northeast South Dakota. I have fond memories of my Weatherby, but the last few years its spent more time in my gun safe while I pack smaller calibers. It is their lowest entry point to their rifles but looks interesting.
